COMMON VALIDATION ERRORS
Why a number comes back invalid.
Most invalid results fall into one of four categories. Understanding why helps you fix the number or flag it as fake before it causes problems.

WRONG LENGTH
Too many or too few digits
Every country has a fixed digit count. India requires exactly 10, the US exactly 10, the UK exactly 10 after dropping the leading 0. Extra or missing digits are an instant fail — the most common error when copying numbers manually.

INVALID PREFIX
Number starts with a disallowed digit
Numbering plans reserve specific starting digits. Indian numbers cannot start with 1–5. US area codes cannot start with 0 or 1. A number that looks complete but starts wrong has never been issued by any carrier.

UNALLOCATED RANGE
The number block has not been assigned
Regulators allocate number blocks to carriers in batches. Even a correctly formatted number can be invalid if its block has not been assigned yet. This is common with newer area codes and recently activated prefixes.

MISSING COUNTRY CODE
Pasted without the + prefix
A number saved without its country code — 9876543210 instead of +91 9876543210 — will fail if the country selected does not match. Always include the country code or select the correct country from the dropdown.
