Free phone number validator. Checks the digit count for 19 countries and returns the number in clean E.164 and national format. It checks the format only, not whether a number is in service.
Validation here is a structural check on the digit count — not an active-line check, and not a check of the prefix. A valid-format number has a plausible digit count and returns in clean E.164 ready for any API or CRM.
Adds the dial code of the country you select.
Checks the digit count against the typical range for that country.
This tool does not check whether the leading digits are assigned, or whether the number is in service.
Returns +CountryCode NationalNumber, and the national format, ready for any API or CRM.
Format validation is usually the first step in any phone-data pipeline — from cleaning CRM exports to standardising contact lists. Here are the most common places teams reach for it.
Catch typos, such as a missing or extra digit, before a number is saved to your database. A valid format does not prove a number is real or in service.
Run an existing list through validation. Remove or flag rows that fail. Reformat the rest into E.164 for consistent storage.
Mixed national formats from different regions become a uniform list of E.164 numbers any system can process without ambiguity.
Before pushing a lead list into a dialer, validation removes rows where someone typed nine digits instead of ten.
E.164 is the ITU-T international standard for phone number formatting. Every API, CRM, dialer, and SMS platform that works internationally expects numbers in this exact format.
Assigned by the ITU. 1 to 3 digits, always after the + sign. Examples: +1 for US & Canada, +44 for the UK, +91 for India, +86 for China.
Narrows to a geographic area, city, or mobile network within the country. In the US this is the 3-digit area code. This validator does not check the NDC against allocated ranges.
Uniquely identifies the individual line within the NDC. CC + NDC + SN combined must not exceed 15 digits total under the E.164 standard.
Each country has its own digit count and prefix rules. The validator checks the digit count only; the prefix notes below are reference information about each country's format.
